DNA SPECIMEN IDENTITY QC

ToxVerifyTM — Know whose sample you’re testing.

ToxVerify™ uses human STR DNA profiling to compare DNA recovered from a urine specimen with a patient’s on-time cheek swab reference profile. It adds a new layer of specimen authentication to toxicology testing.

For treatment centers & toxicology providers TOX testing + DNA specimen identity QC

WHY CHOOSE GENVIEWDX

Confidence in the result.
Confidence in the specimen.

Toxicology identifies drugs and metabolites in a specimen. ToxVerify™ adds a complementary question: does the DNA in that urine specimen match the enrolled patient’s reference profile?

Choose GenviewDX for LC-MS/MS toxicology and STR-based specimen identity QC through one laboratory—supporting more informed review of your testing results.

THE ToxVerify ADVANTAGE

More context for patient monitoring.

Additional identity information. A straightforward collection process.

01

Patient identity

An initial cheek swab establishes the patient’s reference STR profile for comparison with subsequent urine specimens.

02

Urine authentication

Compare urine DNA with the reference profile to help identify possible specimen substitution or collection and labeling mix-ups.

03

Clear results

Review match, non-match, mixture, or inconclusive findings alongside the toxicology report and clinical context.

04

Privacy-conscious workflow

DNA-based identity QC can support more private, gender-neutral collection workflows. Follow your program’s collection, consent, and privacy requirements.

BUILT AROUND YOUR TREATMENT PROGRAM

Support recovery with
better-informed conversations.

For outpatient programs, residential treatment centers, and addiction medicine practices.

Investigate unexpected findings

Use the identity comparison as additional information when assessing a result that does not fit the clinical picture.

Support fair follow-up

An identity discrepancy is a reason to investigate collection and handling. A mismatch alone does not establish intentional substitution.

Keep testing moving

TOX testing and ToxVerify run in parallel. Toxicology findings and specimen identity information provide complementary perspectives.

A SIMPLE WORKFLOW

One reference. Repeated comparisons.

1

Establish a reference

Collect an initial cheek swab. GenviewDX develops the patient’s reference STR profile.

2

Submit urine

Send urine for toxicology testing, with a 2 mL urine aliquot for the DNA comparison. Follow the laboratory’s collection instructions.

3

Review both findings

Review the TOX results and DNA identity comparison together, with clinical findings and any necessary follow-up.

UNDERSTANDING THE REPORT

Identity results with context.

Sufficient recoverable DNA and a valid reference profile are needed for interpretation.

Match
The interpreted DNA profile is consistent with the reference under the assay’s reporting criteria.
Non-match
The interpreted DNA profile does not match the reference; investigate and follow up.
Mixture
Evidence of more than one contributor may require additional interpretation or recollection.
Inconclusive
Available DNA or profile quality does not support a definitive identity comparison.

REFERENCE LAB PARTNERS

Add specimen identity QC
to your existing TOX service.

Toxicology laboratories can submit reference cheek swabs and urine aliquots to GenviewDX for STR comparison while continuing their own TOX testing.
